Sometimes you feel like everything you start just flows off your needle and you didn’t actually realise how fast you work and then you are done.

Or you are like me and have a problem with finishing things in general. And then there are times when nothing works out and you feel like you cannot even start anything, or not pick up what you started already.

Sometimes there are more than enough hooks but just none there to use them

What‘s the worst that could happen?

When I start a new project without a real plan this one is always on my mind: “what’s the worst that can happen?” The answer is: nothing bad. You could lose time because you need to undo stuff. But there are no lives at risk because you just go ahead and try something out. No one is going to suffer because of it (ok, maybe you will, but no one else).

Why do I not finish?

Probably there are more people out there that have the same problem as I do: all these lovely WIPs hanging around… And I have to say there are a lot of WIPs in my basket (and the other basket, and in that tote and this paper bag, oh and there are some boxes as well)…

Design Process: from idea to pattern (the chaotic version)

Sometimes when I talk to Sarah and Katharina about their design process, I feel really bad… They tend to think things through and actually do the math on it beforehand. I on the other hand mostly just swing it…

When I start there are mostly pictures in my head (no math anywhere to be seen). So when I started on my corner to corner shrug I didn’t know what exactly it would be just that I wanted some kind of shrug and that I really wanted to try it out. I will take you along for the ride and tell you how I started getting to the pattern in the end.

Design Process: from inspiration to idea

As you know the three of us work very differently when it comes to our own designs. Today I want to show you how I start with something new (and as I am the one with the many many WIPs, starting is the easiest thing for me).

I actually don’t think that I am a creative person. I cannot really draw or decorate and my pictures are generally rather OK than inspiring. So why should you be interested in what I have to say on the matter?
