I love having a hot chocolate or tea during winter time. And around Xmas you might not see me without a cup of something or another in my hands (and then there is eggnog or Glühwein or Feuerzangenbowle what is well liked in Germany around this time of the year).
As my hubby dislikes mugs that are too colourful (I think I have two that aren’t white) I had to think of something to let them look a bit more xmassy.
This was my solution and it is very adaptable to any mug you have – as long as they aren’t too round (what I mean with that is the curve from the top to the bottom).
What I made are just simple stripes. They measure about 25cm by 4cm (10 by 1 1/2inches) and are crocheted with a hook 4 needle and cotton yarn.
For that size you would chain 7
{chain 1 (for turning), 7 double crochet} 46 times
Chain 4, skip 2 stitches, double crochet in the following 3 stitches, chain 4, skip 2 stitches, join with slip stitch, fasten off and sow on ends. (this was for the buttons)
Sew on two buttons on the other side and you are done!
Easy peasy!
